You’ve seen Jonathan conduct orchestras with Guns N’ Roses and Elton John and he teaches conducting to film scoring students at UCLA Extension. He has produced a diverse roster of performing artists and licensed songs and instrumental music extensively in TV and film. Synthesizers quickly became one of Jonathan Merrill’s many objects of fascination when, as a young boy, his father showed him the portamento feature on his giant Moog modular! While still a composition student at USC, this preoccupation landed him the job as sound designer for Garry Trudeau’s satirical musical, “Rapmaster Ronnie,” and eventually led him to join the sound design team at Spectrasonics.Īlongside his work with synthesizers, Jonathan has composed the music for scores of commercials, including Mercedes, Budweiser, and Disney, as well as music for TV, film, and new media.
